We’re so glad you’d like to get involved with Huron Valley DSA! Below are several ways you can do that.
If you’re ready to dive in, great! We have numerous committees that meet regularly and are adding events, reading circles, and other actions all the time. We have also just launched a campaign to pursue the creation of public housing in our area.
The best way to see all upcoming events is the Events tab on this website. Chapter meetings are held monthly, usually in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti.
HVDSA is a local chapter of a national organization, so if you’re an HVDSA member, you’re also a member of the national organization (and vice versa). Click the following link to join: dsausa.org/join
Hear about upcoming meetings and actions
If all you’d like is to hear from us a few times a month with information on what we’re up to, that’s fine too! You can request to join that list here.
Join the conversation online
Members of HVDSA have access to the chapter Slack, an online forum where you can chat directly with other members about a wide range of topics. If you’re a DSA member in our territory and do not currently have access to the Slack, please email us at huronvalleydsa|at|gmail.com so we can add you.
In addition to the Slack, our committees have dedicated email groups that are typically used to announce meetings, share updates relevant to the committee’s work, and facilitate discussion in the space between regular committee meetings. You can request to be added to the committee email list after you’ve attended a committee meeting.
Can I talk to someone who’s already involved?
Yes! Email us with some information about what led you to us and what you’re looking for with involvement in Huron Valley DSA.
All your stuff is in eastern Washtenaw County and I don’t live close enough to attend anything! What can I do??
We’re sorry! Most of our members are concentrated in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti metropolitan area, and we know we have a lot of work to do to engage members who live outside of that area. If you want to assist with that work, email us. We’ve had members in Jackson, Lenawee, and Livingston Counties spearhead events in those areas in the last year, and we’re always looking for more opportunities of that nature.
